  Abstract:
  We are interested in the problem of nonlinear unconstrained optimization in binary variables. A common approach to solve a problem of this type consists in defining first a linear or a quadratic reformulation of the objective function and then using linear or quadratic integer programming techniques to optimize the reformulation. We focus on methodological aspects of these reformulations and present several theoretical and experimental results including a comparison of the computational performance of the different reformulation methods.
