  Abstract:
  Our paper proposes a pioneer multi-core parallel branch-and-bound (B&B) algorithm using factorial number system. This special numbering system is a mixed radix numeral system adapted to numbering permutations. To the best of our knowledge, all the other parallel B&B algorithm published in the literature are based on using pools to store subproblems. Our new parallel factoradic-based B&B approach aims, on the one hand, to reduce the size of the memory used to store B&B pools, and on the other hand, to accelerate the management of these pools. To validate our new factoradic-based B&B, this original method is compared with a typical multi-core pool-based B&B.
