- Integrating patient-to-room assignment planning with elective admission scheduling
Wim Vancroonenburg (KU Leuven) Co-authors: Patrick De Causmaecker, Frits Spieksma, Greet Vanden Berghe Abstract: The patient-to-room assignment (PA) problem is an operational planning problem found at hospital admission offices. It aims at finding good quality patient-to-room assignments that meet medical requirements, adhere to hospital policies and respect patient preferences. However, a key input to this problem are the admission dates of patients, which are determined as part of an elective admission scheduling (AS) process. In this work, we look at the integration of the PA problem with the AS process in order to increase planning flexibility, and thus to improve operational efficiency.
