Spieksma Abstract: A popular approach to construct a round-robin timetable, is to give each team a Home Away Pattern (HAP), which specifies for each round whether the team plays a home or an away game, and next, to determine a round compatible with both team's patterns for each match. We study the flexibility of a set of HAPs, and introduce several measures. We show how the canonical pattern set behaves on these measures, and we computationally obtain values for all single-break HAP-sets with at most 16 teams.
