We would like to invite you to a LIM seminar on optimization for railway transport on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in Leuven (Belgium). Inneke Van Hoeck and I organize this seminar on the occasion of the public defense of her PhD, together with the KU Leuven Institute for Mobility (LIM).

Developing an effective and efficient railway transport system requires a complex planning process. During the seminar, three international experts will discuss how optimization methods can be used in different stages of this process:

  •  Prof. Joaquin Rodriguez: A Microscopic Model of Real-Time Rail Traffic Management
  • Prof. Anders Peterson: A Linear Programming Analysis of Railway Timetables with Fixed Train Order
  • Prof. Twan Dollevoet: Crew Planning at Netherlands Railways

The target audience are people form practice and academia, working on railway transport or related planning problems.

All information and registration is available here: https://www.kuleuven.be/lim/news/events/railway-transport-seminar

The seminar is free of charge, but registration is required for catering purposes.

Please register as soon as possible (and certainly before February 17, 2026).

Feel free to forward this invitation to possibly interested colleagues, from academia and/or practice.

Kind regards,

Inneke and Pieter
