ORBEL Master Thesis Award

Dear colleagues,

The Belgian Operations Research Society awards the best student's master thesis on Operations Research of the past academic year. We encourage students from Belgium and Luxembourg to apply for the ORBEL award (1500 Euro) generously sponsored by OMP. The deadline for applying is approaching November 1, 2025.

Selected finalists will be required to present their work during the next annual ORBEL conference to be held in Leuven, Belgium on February 5-6 2026.

The manuscript can be written in Dutch, French or English. The evaluation criteria taken into account by the jury are based on the efficiency and effectivity of the scientific method applied to solve the problem under study. The author(s) should put emphasis on the application of existing methods in new areas or on the application of new solution methods for models recognized as useful for solving real-life management problems. One of the criteria will therefore be the effective collaboration with industry during the development of the thesis to solve practical problems.

Submission procedure: send, before November 1, 2025, a PDF file of your thesis to Dimitri Papadimitriou at [email protected] stating you want to compete for the 2026 ORBEL Award.
