A PhD?

Obtaining a PhD means continuing your education at VUB as a PhD-student and becoming an independent, impactful researcher in your domain, e.g. in business, social sciences... At the end of your doctoral studies, you obtain an additional degree and you are set for a career in science, business or government. Teaching Assistants dedicate 60% of their time on research, the remaining 40% is spent on teaching.

Your profile

You are a motivated researcher and have a good academic track record, preferably in Business Engineering, (Applied) Economics, or Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Engineering or Computer Science with a strong interest in Business. You are a team player. You are a good communicator in Dutch and in English.

Teaching Assistant ‘Operations Research and Decision Analytics’

This position covers both teaching and research activities. The education concerns the course ‘Operations Research’ for students Business Engineering (in Dutch) and the course “Decision Analytics” for business students (in English). The doctoral research topic is situated in the domain of ‘optimisation and simulation’ applied to ‘electric and autonomous mobility systems’. Starting date: 15/9/2020.

Teaching Assistant ‘Operations and Supply Chain Management’

This position covers both teaching and research activities. The education concerns the courses ‘Operations Management’ for bachelor students in Business Economics (taught in English) and ‘Supply Chain Management’ for master students in multiple programmes (taught in English and Dutch). The doctoral research relates to optimisation problems in vehicle routing and scheduling. Starting date: 15/9/2020.

Teaching Assistant ‘Research Methods and Information Systems

Strategy/Management’

This position covers both teaching and research activities. The education activities are related to the Research Methods courses within several business-related programs (taught in Dutch and English) and the course ‘Information Systems Strategy and Management’ in the master Business Engineering: Business & Technology (taught in English). The doctoral research is situated in the domain of Process Analytics in Healthcare. Starting date: 15/9/2020.
